Mufti Taqi Usmani Questions Fire Response in Karachi, Calls Gul Plaza Tragedy Shameful

Karachi: Renowned Islamic scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani has expressed deep concern over the authorities’ inability to control a fire in a major city like Karachi, calling it a troubling and unfortunate failure.

In a statement, Mufti Taqi Usmani said that an impartial and thorough investigation is essential to determine why timely assistance could not reach the victims of the Gul Plaza fire. He termed the incident an extremely tragic and shameful disaster for the nation.

He lamented that within just a few hours, many lives were lost in utter helplessness, while billions of rupees in losses pushed numerous middle-class traders into financial ruin. He stressed that strengthening and accelerating safety arrangements is the government’s responsibility.

Mufti Taqi Usmani also praised those individuals who ultimately risked their lives to save others, calling their efforts commendable. He prayed that Allah Almighty grants the martyrs the highest ranks and blesses the affected families with patience and better alternatives.
