Wheat and Flour Crisis Escalates in Balochistan, Only 5–10 Days’ Stock Remaining; Urgent Supply Restoration Demanded

**Quetta:** Balochistan is facing a severe wheat and flour shortage, with stock levels now sufficient for just **5 to 10 days**, raising fears of skyrocketing prices if immediate measures are not taken.

Badruddin Kakr, central chairman of the **Pakistan Flour Mills Association**, told digital media that the province is experiencing a critical flour deficit. He highlighted that Punjab has imposed restrictions on wheat deliveries to other provinces since August, and in the past four days, trucks carrying wheat and flour from Sindh to Balochistan have been stopped at Jacobabad, severely disrupting the province’s supply chain.

“Currently, Balochistan only has a 5–10 day wheat and flour reserve, after which deliveries will halt, leading to inevitable price hikes,” Kakr warned. He added that in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the price of a 100-kg flour bag has reached **Rs 14,700**, and Balochistan could face a similar situation soon.

Kakr urged the **Chief Minister and Chief Secretary of Balochistan** to immediately negotiate with other provinces to restore wheat and flour supplies. He also called on the provincial government to procure **200,000 to 300,000 bags of wheat from PASCO** to manage the crisis until the arrival of the new crop and to ensure supplies during **Ramadan**.

The flour mills’ chairman emphasized that without swift action, the shortage could severely impact households and businesses across the province.
