Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party Condemns Creation of New Districts, Calls It an Attack on Pashtun Geographic Identity

Quetta (Daily Qudrat): The **Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PNAP)** has strongly opposed the provincial government’s recent decisions to create new districts and divisions in Balochistan, calling the move **undemocratic** and an attack on the historical and geographical identity of Pashtun lands.

In a press release from the party’s provincial secretariat, PNAP expressed deep concern that these decisions were being made **without public consultation** and disregarded historical and ground realities, reflecting personal and institutional interests rather than the will of the people. The party criticized the government for ignoring **150 years of historical, administrative, and geographic precedent** while re-dividing tehsils and regions, excluding the Pashtun community from the decision-making process.

The press release highlighted specific grievances, including separating **Panjpai from Quetta** and merging **Ghaza Band and Ujram Union Councils (Pishin area)** with **Gurgab and Kank** to form a new district, which PNAP described as a **Pashtun-hostile policy**. The party also condemned attempts to diminish the historical status of **Sibi** and expressed concern over discussions about abolishing **Sherani District**, calling such moves an open assault on the **constitutional, historical, and political rights of Pashtuns**.

PNAP reaffirmed that the long-standing demands of Pashtuns for the creation of districts in **Muslim Bagh, Sanjawi, Toba Kakri, Barshore, Harimzai, and Karizat** remain ignored, while the government insists on creating a new district from only five union councils of **Bakr**. The party warned that such unilateral and non-democratic actions are unacceptable to the Pashtun people and called upon **all Pashtuns and political parties** to unite and resist these decisions to protect their **historical, geographical, and political rights**.
