Western Weather System to Enter Pakistan, Rain and Snowfall Forecast for Several Regions

**Islamabad:** The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has announced an end to the prevailing dry spell, forecasting rain and snowfall in various parts of the country due to the entry of a western weather system.

According to the Met Office, a system of western winds is expected to enter Punjab between January 16 and 19. From January 20 to 23, rainfall and snowfall are likely in Islamabad, Murree, the Galiyat region, and other surrounding areas.

Rain is also expected in Lahore, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Multan, Faisalabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Bahawalpur divisions. On January 23, several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan are also likely to receive rain and snowfall.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert for heavy snowfall in the northern areas from January 16 to 22. In addition, the Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority’s Emergency Center has issued a cold wave alert, advising the public to take precautionary measures during extreme cold, snowfall, and rainfall.
