Election Commission Suspends Membership of 7 Balochistan Assembly Members Over Non-Submission of Asset Declarations

Quetta: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken major action by suspending the membership of seven members of the Balochistan Assembly for failing to submit their asset and liability statements for the financial year 2024–25.

According to an official notification issued on January 16, 2026, under Section 137 (3) of the Election Act 2017, the lawmakers did not submit details of their own, their spouses’ and their dependent children’s assets and liabilities by the prescribed deadline of January 15.

The suspended members include Faisal Khan Jamali (PB-17), Muhammad Zareen Khan Magsi (PB-22), Mir Zafarullah Khan Zehri (PB-35), Malik Naeem Khan Bazai (PB-38), Bakht Muhammad (PB-39), Zarak Khan (PB-42) and Safia, who was elected on a reserved seat for women.

The Election Commission clarified that all suspended members will remain inactive as members of the provincial assembly until they submit the required asset declarations. During the suspension period, they will not be allowed to participate in any parliamentary sessions, legislative business or other official activities.
