Election Commission Suspends Membership of 9 Senators Over Failure to Submit Asset Declarations

Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued an official notification suspending the membership of nine senators for failing to submit details of their assets and liabilities, including those of their dependents, for the financial year 2024–25 within the prescribed deadline of December 31, 2025.
According to the notification issued under Section 137 of the Election Act 2017, the suspended senators include Fauzia Arshad from Islamabad; Abid Sher Ali and Musadik Masood Malik from Punjab; Syed Kazim Ali Shah and Jam Saifullah Khan from Sindh; Murad Saeed and Noor-ul-Haq Qadri from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; and Ahmed Khan and Abdul Qudoos from Balochistan.
The Election Commission clarified that these senators will remain inactive as members of the Senate until they submit the required asset and liability statements. During the suspension period, they will not be allowed to participate in any parliamentary proceedings or legislative activities.
