Sharp Rise in Flu and Viral Infections: Health Authorities Issue Caution

**Islamabad:** Health officials have reported a significant surge in flu, influenza, and other viral infections across Lahore and several districts of Punjab, putting additional pressure on the already strained public healthcare system.

In the past week, approximately 45,000 patients sought treatment for flu, chest infections, pneumonia, and fever at six major government hospitals in Lahore, reflecting the alarming spread of seasonal and viral illnesses.

Mayo Hospital recorded over 10,000 cases related to flu, cough, fever, and respiratory issues, while Jinnah Hospital treated more than 8,000 patients. Services Hospital, Lahore General Hospital, and the Children’s Hospital each attended roughly 7,500 patients, and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital reported over 6,000 cases, including several severe respiratory illnesses.

Hospital sources stated that outpatient departments and emergency wards are overwhelmed, with doctors and paramedical staff struggling to manage the growing patient load.

Medical experts attribute the surge to seasonal changes, which accelerate the spread of super flu, influenza, and other viral infections, and have urged citizens to take precautionary measures to protect their health.
