Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Briefed on Sindh Government’s Performance, Highlights Achievements in Health, Education, and Rehabilitation

Islamabad: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari praised the Sindh government for its effective and notable performance in the sectors of health, education, social protection, and rehabilitation. Speaking at an event in Islamabad regarding the government’s performance and future roadmap, he said the PPP, elected with a strong public mandate, has focused on improving provincial systems despite facing significant challenges.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari highlighted that the Sindh government has taken substantial steps to strengthen the healthcare system. He noted that cyberknife technology was introduced for the first time in the province for advanced treatment, while Jinnah Hospital was upgraded to international standards. Free world-class healthcare services, including expensive treatments like cancer therapy, are being provided to the public.
He added that eleven NICVD-style hospitals have been established across Sindh, serving over 2.9 million patients in one year. Cardiology patients receive free treatment, eliminating the long-distance travel previously required for those in interior Sindh.
On education, the PPP Chairman said Sindh has made significant progress. The province now has 30 operational universities, compared to just 10 in 2008. Gambat Medical College was established in 2017, and 100,000 teachers have been recruited on merit.
Referring to the historic 2022 floods, he noted that thousands of schools were damaged and 2.1 million homes destroyed. In response, Sindh launched the largest housing project, with construction of 2.1 million homes for affected families underway, with full support from the federal government and Prime Minister.
Bilawal Bhutto also highlighted poverty alleviation initiatives, including the Sindh Poverty Reduction Program, while praising the federally-run Benazir Income Support Program as a major social protection system. He added that a large number of patients from other provinces receive treatment at Gambat Hospital, reflecting public confidence in Sindh’s healthcare facilities.
Concluding his address, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said the Sindh government will continue its efforts to improve all sectors and remain committed to public service in the future.
