Met Office Forecasts Rain as Western Weather System to Affect Upper Regions

Islamabad:The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather forecast, stating that a western weather system is expected to affect the upper parts of the country in the coming days.
According to the Met Office, the western disturbance is likely to enter the country on December 28, with rainfall expected in Balochistan and adjoining areas on December 29. Karachi is also likely to receive its first winter rain on December 30, as the western system may influence the city from Tuesday to Wednesday, leading to a further drop in temperatures.
The PMD has forecast rain in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan from December 29 to January 2–3, 2026. Snowfall is also expected in northern Balochistan and other northern mountainous regions during this period.
Light rain is anticipated in southern Punjab and Sindh as well. Meanwhile, cold conditions have intensified in Lahore, where the weather is expected to remain cloudy today. Winds are currently blowing at a speed of around two kilometers per hour, adding to the chill in the city.
