President Zardari Meets Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa, Agrees to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

President **Asif Ali Zardari** held a meeting with **King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa** of Bahrain in Manama, where both leaders agreed to enhance **bilateral relations** and pledged to give a new dimension to the **brotherly ties** between Pakistan and Bahrain.
Upon arrival at **Qasr Al-Qudaih**, President Zardari was received with a **Guard of Honor** and awarded Bahrain’s **highest honor, the Order of Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, First Class**, in recognition of his efforts to promote bilateral relations. This was followed by a **one-on-one meeting** between the two leaders.
The discussions focused on **boosting trade and investment**, with President Zardari inviting Bahraini investors to Pakistan and emphasizing **joint projects in agriculture, IT, health, tourism, and infrastructure**. Cooperation in **defense and security** was highlighted as a key pillar of Pakistan-Bahrain relations. The leaders also exchanged views on **global and regional developments**, stressing the need for unity and restraint.
President Zardari appreciated the **Pakistani community in Bahrain**, calling it a **strong bridge for bilateral ties** and expressed gratitude for facilities provided to over **116,000 Pakistanis residing in Bahrain**. The **King Hamad University in Islamabad** was recognized as a **symbol of Pakistan-Bahrain friendship**. Both leaders agreed to maintain **close coordination in international forums, including the United Nations**.
King Hamad described President Zardari’s visit as a **milestone in bilateral relations** and praised the Pakistani community’s contributions in Bahrain. A **formal luncheon** was also hosted in honor of President Zardari and his delegation.
