Pakistan Takes Revolutionary Step Towards Digital Economy with Historic Agreement, Cross-Border Payments to Become Easier

Islamabad: Pakistan has marked a major milestone in the digital economy with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with U.S.-based World Liberty Financial to advance innovations in digital payments.

The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. A delegation from World Liberty Financial, led by CEO Zachary Witkoff, met the Prime Minister to discuss collaboration. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and the Finance Minister.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that expanding digital payments and promoting financial innovation are key components of Pakistan’s digital economy. CEO Zachary Witkoff lauded Pakistan’s policy framework and expressed interest in working with the country to establish a secure and transparent digital payments infrastructure.

Following the meeting, the MoU was formally signed between the Government of Pakistan and SC Financial Technologies, with both the Prime Minister and Army Chief witnessing the historic agreement. The initiative is expected to simplify cross-border payments and strengthen Pakistan’s position in the global digital economy.
