KP Government to Auction Vehicle Number Plates Named After Zardari, Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to auction fancy vehicle number plates bearing the names of prominent political figures, including President Asif Ali Zardari, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, and the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), along with other notable personalities.
Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Fakhr Jahan, while speaking to Geo News, said the auction of fancy and unique choice number plates named after political and national figures will be held on January 27 at Nishtar Hall, Peshawar.
According to the minister, bidding for the fancy number plates will start at Rs1 million, and the highest bidder will be awarded the number plate carrying the name of their preferred political or national personality.
He added that, in phases, number plates named after other national leaders, renowned personalities, regions, and ethnic groups will also be included in future auctions.
Fakhr Jahan said vehicle owners are showing keen interest in the auction process, adding that the initiative is expected to generate significant revenue for the national exchequer. He noted that citizens have already started submitting applications through the Dastak app to obtain unique number plates.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise and Taxation Department has issued an official advertisement regarding the auction. Citizens interested in participating can submit their applications through the Dastak app, with January 26, 2026 set as the deadline for submissions.
