UN General Assembly Overwhelmingly Approves Resolution Calling for Israeli Withdrawal from Occupied Palestinian Territories

Islamabad: The United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday passed a resolution demanding the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the occupied Palestinian territories, marking a significant diplomatic development amid ongoing regional tensions.

Titled *“Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine,”* the resolution received overwhelming support, with **151 countries voting in favor**, **11 against**, and **11 abstaining**.

The resolution urges the immediate resumption of credible negotiations on all core issues within the Middle East peace process and calls for an international peace conference to be convened in Moscow.

It further demands that Israel abide fully by international law, end its illegal occupation, halt new settlements, and remove all Jewish settlers from the occupied Palestinian territories.

The resolution rejects any demographic or geographic changes in Gaza and emphasizes that **Gaza and the West Bank must be reunified under the Palestinian Authority**. It reiterates that Israel must withdraw from all Palestinian territories occupied since 1967 to enable the Palestinian people to realize their fundamental right to self-determination.

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, **Usama Iftikhar Ahmad**, reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause during the debate. He stressed that the world must turn its commitments into meaningful action.

“Pakistan fully supports the Palestinian people’s struggle for freedom, self-determination, peace, and justice,” he said.

The Pakistani envoy underscored that a complete ceasefire in Gaza, full Israeli withdrawal, uninterrupted humanitarian aid, and urgent reconstruction of the enclave are essential steps.

He emphasized that no forced demographic changes, division, annexation, or displacement in the occupied territories would be acceptable. Only a political solution, he said, can ensure lasting peace—specifically, the creation of a **sovereign, independent, and contiguous Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif (East Jerusalem) as its capital**.
