Balochistan Government Approves Electric Bikes for Citizens, Introduces Health Insurance for Government Employees

**Quetta (Daily Qudrat Quetta):**
The **Balochistan Cabinet** has approved a major initiative to introduce an **electric bike scheme** for the general public, aimed at promoting sustainable transport and providing affordable mobility solutions. The decision was made during the 21st provincial cabinet meeting chaired by **Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti**.
Under the scheme, students, working women, and government employees will receive **30% subsidies** on electric bikes, while general citizens will be able to purchase them through **easy installment plans**. The program will be implemented under **bank financing**, ensuring accessibility for all eligible participants.
The cabinet also highlighted that the province spends approximately **6 to 7 billion PKR annually** on medical treatment for around **250,000 provincial government employees**. In light of this, the government has approved the introduction of a **health insurance scheme** for provincial employees.
Additionally, the cabinet decided to conduct audits of **advance medical payments** and the **public endowment fund**, aiming for greater transparency and efficiency in government welfare programs.
This dual initiative reflects the provincial government’s focus on improving citizens’ mobility and enhancing healthcare facilities for its workforce.
