Government Working Day and Night to Make Pakistan an IT Hub of the Region: Prime Minister

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the government is working day and night to make Pakistan a regional hub for information technology, while welcoming the establishment of a foundation in the name of renowned late IT expert Arfa Karim Randhawa by her parents. He assured that all possible support would be extended at the government level.
The Prime Minister expressed these views during a meeting with Arfa Karim’s parents, Sameena Amjad and Amjad Karim Randhawa, along with Chief Executive of the Arfa Karim Foundation, Tabinda Islam. On the occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to Arfa Karim for her remarkable contributions to the IT sector at a very young age and for bringing pride to Pakistan.
He said that in recognition of Arfa Karim’s lasting services to the IT field, the IT Tower in Lahore has been named after her and is now known as the Arfa Karim Tower.
The Prime Minister emphasized that providing Pakistani youth with international-standard education and training in the IT sector is among the government’s top priorities. He reiterated that the government is fully committed to transforming Pakistan into a regional IT center.
He further stated that the government is encouraging IT education, skills development, and entrepreneurship among the youth. As part of this initiative, laptops are once again being distributed this year to high-performing students by the federal government.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the establishment of the Arfa Karim Foundation as a welcome step for the promotion of IT in the country and assured that the government would provide all possible support to the foundation.
