Government Teachers Association Condemns Arrests of Employees in Balochistan

Quetta (NNI): The Government Teachers Association (GTA) District Quetta has accused the Balochistan government of pushing more than 250,000 provincial employees against the wall, calling recent actions against teachers and government staff highly condemnable.

In a statement, the association said that teachers and other government employees from Quetta and various districts of Balochistan have been arrested and imprisoned, terming the move extremely unfortunate. The statement further alleged that houses of central leaders of the Grand Alliance are being raided on a daily basis in Quetta, violating the sanctity of privacy and homes.

The GTA said that dozens of professors have been suspended, while show-cause notices have been issued to several other employees. The association strongly condemned what it described as inhuman, illegal, and anti-employee measures taken by the provincial government.

The statement demanded the immediate release of all arrested employees and urged the Balochistan government to invite the leadership of the Grand Alliance for dialogue. It also called for the immediate issuance of notifications for the 30 percent disparity reduction allowance and other legitimate demands in line with the recommendations of the committee formed by the Chief Minister of Balochistan.

The association warned that any delay in fulfilling these demands would rest entirely with the provincial government.
