Sea Turns Unusually Green Along Makran Coast as Algae Bloom Kills Marine Life

Makran:The seawater along the coastal areas of Makran has turned unusually green, raising serious environmental concerns. According to the Deputy Director of the Environment Department, the change has been observed in Gwadar, Pasni, Jiwani, and Ormara due to the accumulation of algae.

The official said that the algae bloom has caused a significant decline in oxygen levels in seawater, resulting in severe damage to marine life. Dozens of fish have died, while around 200 dead sea snakes, including guitar fish, were found washed ashore.

The Deputy Director further stated that foul smell and decay have created difficulties for the coastal population. Although algae bloom is a natural phenomenon, its immediate effects are dangerous and alarming.

Fishermen have been advised to take precautionary measures, as the situation is expected to return to normal within a few days.
