Lasbela: Mysterious Disease Kills Goats Worth Millions, Livestock Owners Seek Urgent Government Action

*Uthal:* A dangerous and contagious disease is rapidly spreading among goats in several rural areas of Lakra tehsil in Lasbela district, resulting in the deaths of dozens of animals and causing financial losses worth millions of rupees to poor livestock owners.

According to local herders, the affected goats are showing alarming symptoms including foaming at the mouth, twisted necks, wounds on the body and internal organs, severe weakness, and sudden death. Despite the seriousness of the situation, livestock owners allege that the District Livestock Officer and relevant department staff have so far failed to take any practical action.

Residents of the area said that no preventive spraying has been carried out, nor have vaccines or medicines been provided, raising serious fears that the disease could spread further to other areas. They stressed that livestock farming is their only source of livelihood, and the continuous deaths of goats have pushed many poor families to the brink of economic collapse.

Social activists and local community members have urged the Deputy Commissioner Lasbela, Director Livestock Balochistan, and the provincial government to take immediate notice of the situation. They demanded the urgent dispatch of livestock teams to the affected areas, proper diagnosis of the disease, and immediate provision of vaccines, medicines, and spraying facilities to prevent further losses.
