PTI Policy and Leadership Still Centered on Imran Khan, Says Salman Akram Raja

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has rejected the ongoing debate regarding the party’s chairmanship, stating clearly that the core of PTI’s policy and leadership remains with Imran Khan, while Barrister Gohar Ali Khan is the chairman appointed and elected by Imran Khan.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, Salman Akram Raja said he was asked why the chairman’s opinion should not be considered party policy in reference to some statements made by Barrister Gohar. He clarified that PTI’s policies are set by Imran Khan, whom he described as the party’s real chairman.
“Regardless of how elements of chaos try to color the narrative, the reality is that party leadership rests with Imran Khan,” he said.
The clarification follows an interview a day earlier in which Salman Akram Raja was asked whether Barrister Gohar Ali Khan had effectively been sidelined and who the new chairman of PTI was. He responded unequivocally that Imran Khan is the chairman and that there is currently no other chairman.
He further said that the prevailing political situation in the country and the conduct of the Election Commission towards PTI are evident to everyone, describing them as part of what he termed “rules of coercion.”
According to Salman Akram Raja, the facts are clear and well understood: Imran Khan remains the chairman of PTI, and there is no alternative leadership in that position.
His statement is being seen as significant amid speculation circulating about PTI’s internal leadership structure. Through this clarification, the PTI secretary general has conveyed a clear message that the party’s ideological and political leadership continues to rest firmly with Imran Khan.
