No Objection to Mahmood Khan Achakzai’s Nomination, Talks Limited to Media So Far: Khawaja Asif
*Islamabad:* Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif stated that the government has no objection to Mahmood Khan Achakzai or any other individual nominated by the opposition. Speaking to media outside Parliament House, he emphasized that the government will accept whoever the opposition chooses.
Khawaja Asif added that, at present, discussions about negotiations remain limited to media statements, and no concrete progress has been made in serious talks. He said that if the opposition selects Mahmood Khan Achakzai, they should announce his name, after which it will be at the Speaker’s discretion to approve the opposition leader’s nomination.
He further noted that the tensions observed on the National Assembly floor between the government and opposition are not reflected in private meetings.
