JUI-F Ready to Consider Fazlur Rehman as Opposition Leader if Consensus Reached

Islamabad: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) leader Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri has stated that consultations can be held if all opposition parties unanimously agree to nominate Maulana Fazlur Rehman as the Leader of the Opposition.

Speaking to journalists, Maulana Haideri called for the immediate appointment of opposition leaders in both the National Assembly and the Senate. He emphasized that, according to parliamentary tradition, the opposition leader should be chosen from the majority opposition party.

He noted that Maulana Fazlur Rehman has previously served in the role and possesses the necessary experience to hold the position again.

Responding to a question, Maulana Haideri said that issues between Pakistan and Afghanistan should be resolved through dialogue. He expressed concern over the ongoing wave of terrorism, stating that Pakistani soldiers are being martyred continuously, which is a deeply alarming situation.

He stressed that finding a permanent and effective solution to terrorism has now become unavoidable, urging all stakeholders to work together to address the challenge.
