Punjab Government Abolishes 9 Departments on New Year’s Day, Merges Them into Food Safety & Consumer Protection Department

**Lahore (Daily Qudrat):** On the very first day of the New Year, the Punjab government took a major administrative step by abolishing nine government departments and officially issued a notification regarding the decision.

According to *Express News*, the dissolved departments have now been merged into the **Food Safety & Consumer Protection Department**. The notification, issued by the Services and General Administration Department, states that the merged entities will operate under the umbrella of the Food Safety & Consumer Protection Department, which will become immediately functional. Each of the merged departments will have one Secretary and one Director General to oversee operations.
