Doctors at Rawalpindi’s Holy Family Hospital Issue Death Certificate for Newborn Found Alive

Rawalpindi:A shocking incident has emerged from Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi, where doctors mistakenly issued a death certificate for a newborn baby who was later found to be alive.

According to the parents, the baby was born a day earlier in critical condition. Doctors reportedly declared the newborn dead and issued a death certificate, also confirming the handing over of the body to the family. However, when the parents received the baby, they noticed that the infant was breathing.

The parents stated that the baby was seen breathing while an oxygen mask was still attached. Upon confirmation that the newborn was alive, hospital staff immediately shifted the baby to a ventilator for emergency care.

Responding to the incident, hospital administration said the newborn was suffering from **Lazarus syndrome**, a rare medical phenomenon in which breathing and heartbeat become extremely faint and may appear to have stopped temporarily.

The hospital management has formed an inquiry committee to investigate the matter. Officials said that strict action will be taken against anyone found responsible for issuing the death certificate prematurely.

The incident has raised serious questions about medical negligence and hospital protocols, while the inquiry is expected to determine how such a grave error occurred.
