Privatization of PMDC Unacceptable, Assets Being Sold by Form-47 Government: Pakhtunkhwa MAP

**Quetta:** The Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) has strongly condemned what it described as conspiracies to privatize the Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC) and measures that could lead to unemployment of its workers, declaring that privatization of the institution is unacceptable under any circumstances.
In a press release issued from the party’s provincial secretariat, PkMAP stated that the “Form-47 imposed government” is pushing the country toward further unemployment by moving to privatize profit-making institutions such as PMDC. The party warned that if such steps are taken, it would be compelled to launch protests with public support.
The statement recalled that the party had earlier highlighted that the country has been pushed close to bankruptcy and is being dragged deeper into an economic quagmire. It warned that the time is not far when state revenues will dry up and there will be nothing left to sell. The party also criticized the privatization of national institutions including PIA, PTCL, Karachi Steel Mills, Pakistan Railways, and now PMDC.
According to the statement, the country is already facing severe crises and political instability, and further privatization will only deepen these challenges. PkMAP emphasized that to steer the country out of crises, it is essential to ensure the supremacy of the Constitution, keep all institutions bound by it and away from political interference, uphold parliamentary sovereignty, and establish a genuine democratic federation based on equality of nations.
The party demanded the immediate resignation of the current “imposed government” and called for fresh, transparent elections under an independent Election Commission. It also urged all democratic, nationalist, and progressive political forces to play a positive and constructive role in restoring democracy and stability in the country.
