Pakistan Rejects Israel’s Announcement to Recognize Somaliland at United Nations

Islamabad: Pakistan has strongly rejected Israel’s announcement to recognize Somaliland, reaffirming its full support for Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Addressing an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council, Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative, Usman Jadoon, stated that Pakistan categorically rejects Israel’s decision to recognize Somaliland. He emphasized that Pakistan firmly stands with Somalia and will continue to uphold its position in accordance with international law.
Usman Jadoon informed the Security Council that Israel is allegedly seeking to displace Palestinians from Gaza and relocate them to Somaliland, calling such intentions deeply concerning. He said that while the Somali government is taking steps to ensure national stability, Israel’s actions are irresponsible and aimed at creating instability in the region.
He termed Israel’s move a clear violation of international law and warned that any attempt to displace the Palestinian people would constitute a serious breach of global legal principles.
The Pakistani envoy reiterated that Pakistan will continue to support the rights of the Palestinian people under all circumstances and will actively pursue the matter on the United Nations platform.
It is noteworthy that Israel has reportedly become the first country to announce recognition of the new Muslim region of Somaliland, which has not yet been formally recognized by any country. Muslim states have collectively rejected Israel’s move and expressed serious concern over the announcement.
