Sohail Afridi Writes Letter to Maryam Nawaz Over Alleged Protocol Violations After Lahore Visit

Lahore – Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Afridi, has written a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz after returning from Lahore, expressing serious concerns over alleged protocol violations and inappropriate treatment during his visit to Punjab.

In his letter, Sohail Afridi stated that he was subjected to an improper attitude and misconduct during his stay in Punjab. He said the treatment he received amounted to disrespect for the public mandate and was unacceptable for an elected chief minister.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister also condemned what he described as a coordinated social media campaign launched against him following the visit. He termed state-backed character assassination as intolerable and against democratic norms.

Sohail Afridi further complained that security arrangements in Punjab were excessive and unnecessary, causing severe inconvenience to ordinary citizens. He urged that such actions should be avoided in the future to uphold inter-provincial respect and democratic values.

The letter has added to political tensions between the two provinces, highlighting concerns over protocol, security, and political conduct during official visits.
