Public Protests Severe Power Outages in Chaman as Pashtunkhwa MAP Stages Sit-in Outside WAPDA Office

Chaman (Daily Qudrat Quetta) – Residents of Chaman took to the streets on Wednesday to protest prolonged and unannounced power outages, as the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) staged a sit-in outside the WAPDA House against what it termed poor performance by the power utility and indifference of the provincial government.
The protest rally began from Taj Road and passed through various city routes before reaching the WAPDA office, where demonstrators staged a sit-in. The protest was led by PkMAP District Secretary Haji Jamal Khan Achakzai, while party leaders Haji Salahuddin Khan Achakzai and Abdul Aleem Pehlwan addressed the participants.
Speakers said that electricity outages lasting several days at a time have become routine in Chaman, causing severe hardship for residents. They stated that businesses have been crippled and water shortages have worsened due to the prolonged power cuts. The leaders warned that the absence of electricity during nighttime hours has also aggravated law and order concerns.
The protesters accused WAPDA officials and the provincial government of remaining silent spectators despite the worsening situation. They demanded an immediate end to unannounced load-shedding and called for action against corrupt officials.
The participants announced that the sit-in would continue until 2:00 pm, warning of further protests if their demands were not addressed.
