Balochistan CM Orders Immediate Measures to Strengthen Computer Science Department at University of Makran
QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has said that the provincial government believes in taking practical and effective measures to promote higher education, enhance the capacity of universities, and provide students with educational facilities aligned with the demands of the modern era.
He expressed these views while chairing a high-level meeting convened to address issues facing the Department of Computer Sciences at the University of Makran, Panjgur, and to improve the quality of education in the department.
The meeting was attended by Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hameed Durrani, Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary for Planning and Development Zahid Saleem, and Secretary Higher Education Muhammad Saleh Baloch. Vice Chancellor of the University of Makran, Professor Dr. Saadat Baloch, participated via video link.
During the meeting, several important decisions were made to ensure both immediate and long-term solutions for the department. It was decided that a summary for the appointment of a PhD-qualified chairman and two lecturers for the Computer Science Department would be submitted without delay. The government also resolved to expedite the recruitment of permanent teaching staff to strengthen academic activities and improve educational standards.
Chief Minister Bugti directed the relevant authorities to complete all necessary measures aimed at improving academic quality in universities, particularly in critical fields such as Information Technology and Computer Science.
He emphasized that equipping Balochistan’s youth with modern knowledge and skills remains one of the provincial government’s top priorities. He warned that any delay or negligence in achieving this objective would not be tolerated.
The chief minister further stated that the government is pursuing practical and sustainable reforms to provide lasting solutions to the challenges faced by educational institutions across the province.
