13 Killed, 98 Injured as Train Derails in Mexico’s Oaxaca Region

At least 13 people were killed and 98 others injured in a train accident in the southwestern Mexican region of Oaxaca.

According to media reports, the incident occurred when a train derailed while taking a turn near the town of Nizanda in Oaxaca. At the time of the accident, the train was carrying 241 passengers along with nine crew members.

Officials said that the condition of five of the injured is critical. Rescue teams responded promptly, safely evacuating other passengers from the train and shifting them to secure locations.

The Governor of Oaxaca expressed deep sorrow and condolences over the tragic incident, stating that state and federal authorities are jointly working to assist the victims and their families.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
