Zardari Slams Former PM, Praises Army Chief Asim Munir, Says Even Trump Commends Him

Garhi Khuda Bakhsh: President Asif Ali Zardari, without naming former prime minister Imran Khan, strongly criticized a past leadership, saying that “one foolish person damaged Pakistan’s relations with the entire world.”
Addressing a public gathering at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on the death anniversary of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, President Zardari said that a previous government had destroyed the country’s economy. He added that the current leadership is not only restoring Pakistan’s relations with the international community but also steering the economy towards stability and improvement.
The event was attended by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Aseefa Bhutto, Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, and other party leaders.
President Zardari praised Field Marshal Asim Munir, saying that he is working alongside the civilian leadership to take the country forward. He claimed that even former US president Donald Trump has spoken positively about the army chief.
Recalling the period after Benazir Bhutto’s assassination, Zardari said the slogan “Pakistan Khappay” helped save the country from instability. He said Pakistan appointed an army chief who gave a “befitting response” to India, forcing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to realize that war is not a game.
Challenging the Indian leadership, President Zardari said India often claims to be ten times bigger than Pakistan, but added that “fighting also requires courage.” He asserted that Pakistan could have shot down all Indian aircraft if it had chosen to do so.
Sharing a personal account, Zardari said that before a potential conflict, the military secretary had advised him to move to a bunker, but he refused, stating that “leaders do not die in bunkers.”
He emphasized that Pakistan is not fond of war, but warned that the armed forces are fully prepared to respond decisively to any aggression. He concluded by saying that whenever the motherland needs sacrifice, they will not hesitate to offer their lives, resources, and efforts for the defense of the country.
