Non-Filers Alert: FBR Releases Fresh List of 174,000 Individuals

Islamabad:The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has released a new list of an additional 174,000 non-filers, signaling a major step in the government’s ongoing efforts to broaden the tax base.
According to media reports, sources said that most individuals included in the list have already been served notices. The list also includes a significant number of housewives.
FBR officials stated that non-filers have been directed to submit their tax documents along with income tax returns for the past three years. The move aims to expand the tax net and bring unregistered taxpayers into the formal legal framework.
Sources further revealed that the FBR is issuing notices to non-filers both online and at their residences using national identity card records. Non-filers have been instructed to file their tax returns within the stipulated timeframe, failing which they may face legal action.
The initiative is being described as an important step toward improving transparency in the tax system and increasing government revenue. Tax experts believe that timely identification of non-filers and issuance of notices will help enhance compliance and support the achievement of revenue targets.
This is not the first time the FBR has issued a large-scale list of non-filers. Last year, thousands of non-filers across various districts were served notices, including many housewives and small business owners.
According to the FBR, the ongoing campaign will not only improve transparency in tax collection but also help integrate undocumented individuals into the formal economy.
