Violence in Balochistan 2025: 489 Killed in 432 Terror Attacks, 707 Militants Eliminated

Quetta: The year 2025 proved to be another violent and challenging year for Balochistan, as terrorism claimed hundreds of lives and created a climate of fear and insecurity across the province. According to security sources, a total of 432 terrorist attacks were reported throughout Balochistan, resulting in 284 civilian and 205 security personnel fatalities.
Major attacks included six suicide bombings in Quetta, Mastung, Khuzdar, Turbat, and Naukundi. On March 11, militants attacked the Jafar Express in Bolan, taking passengers hostage. Security forces killed 33 militants during the operation, but 26 people were martyred.
On February 18 in Barkhan, seven passengers were killed, while in July, multiple firing incidents targeted passenger coaches near Zhob and Qalat, resulting in numerous casualties, including Ahmed Hussain Sabri, cousin of renowned qawwal Amjad Sabri. Another tragic incident occurred on May 15 in Khuzdar, where a bus belonging to Army Public School was attacked, killing six people, including four children, and injuring 43 others. On September 30, a suicide bombing at the FC Headquarters in Quetta claimed 12 lives.
Officials, including Additional Chief Secretary Home Hamza Shafqat and DIG CTD Izzat, stated that over 78,000 intelligence-based operations were conducted in Balochistan during 2025, resulting in 707 militants being killed. Despite ongoing counter-terrorism efforts, threats continue to persist.
The year 2025 left Balochistan’s citizens feeling insecure for prolonged periods, and public calls are growing for more effective measures to completely eradicate terrorism and ensure the safety of civilians.
