Toshakhana-II Verdict Against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in Line With Constitution and Law: Barrister Aqeel Malik

Islamabad: Minister of State for Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik has stated that the verdict announced today against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi is fully in accordance with the Constitution and the law.
In a statement, Barrister Aqeel Malik said that the PTI founder and his wife deliberately undervalued the Bulgari jewelry set, clearly violating legal requirements. He added that Imran Khan had committed an explicit breach of the law in the Toshakhana-II case.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani said that depositing gifts in the Toshakhana was mandatory under the rules. He alleged that the gift was purchased at a throwaway price, terming the act a case of fraud.
It is worth noting that in the Toshakhana-II case, the accountability court has sentenced Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi to 10 years in prison each. Additionally, both were awarded separate sentences of seven years each under Section 409 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
Overall, the court handed down a total sentence of 17 years’ imprisonment to each of them, along with a fine of Rs164 million.
The verdict was announced by Special Judge Central Shah Rukh Arjumand of the Accountability Court at Adiala Jail in the presence of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.
