Balochistan Assembly Orders Action Against ‘Balochistan Leaks’ Campaign, Rejects Blackmailing Attempts

Quetta: The Balochistan Assembly has taken strong notice of negative propaganda, false allegations, and character assassination of lawmakers on social media under the name “Balochistan Leaks,” and has summoned officials of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly, Abdul Khaliq Khan Achakzai, stated in clear terms that the assembly will not bow to blackmailing tactics and that those involved in the smear campaign will be brought to justice. He directed authorities to expose the elements behind the campaign and ensure strict legal action against them.
The issue was raised on a point of order by Leader of the Opposition Younis Aziz Zehri. The session was attended by several lawmakers, including Rahmat Saleh Baloch, Farah Azim Shah, Khair Jan Baloch, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, Noor Muhammad Dumar, Ali Madad Jattak, Sanjay Kumar, and Fazal Qadir Mandokhail.
Members unanimously stated that while they are ready for accountability, character assassination through baseless allegations and fake social media accounts is a conspiracy to damage the credibility of democratic institutions. They stressed that such malicious campaigns against elected representatives are unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
Additional Director Cyber Crime, Tariq Khan, informed the house that preliminary action has already been initiated and that proceedings will be conducted under Sections 20 and 26-A of the relevant laws. The Speaker directed authorities to use all legal and technical resources to first identify and expose the page operating under the name “Balochistan Leaks” and ensure that those responsible are punished according to the law.
He emphasized that in the first phase, the operators behind “Balochistan Leaks” must be uncovered and warned that no one involved in the campaign would be given any leniency.
