Zaira Wasim Condemns Bihar CM Nitish Kumar for Forcibly Removing Muslim Doctor’s Hijab

Mumbai: Former Bollywood actress Zaira Wasim has strongly criticized Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar after a video went viral showing him forcibly removing the hijab of a Muslim woman doctor during an official government ceremony.
The incident occurred while the Chief Minister was presenting certificates to doctors. In the video, he is seen first gesturing for the doctor to remove her hijab, and before she could respond, he reaches out and pulls it down himself.
A woman’s dignity and modesty are not props to toy with. Least of all on a public stage. As a Muslim woman, watching another woman’s niqab being pulled at so casually, accompanied by that nonchalant smile, was so infuriating.
Power does not grant permission to violate…

Zaira Wasim took to her X account to denounce the act, calling it an insult to women and a violation of personal boundaries. She emphasized that power and authority do not give anyone the right to undermine a woman’s dignity and modesty. She demanded an unconditional apology from the Chief Minister to the affected woman.
The incident has also drawn widespread political criticism in India. The Congress Party described the act as shameful, while the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) questioned the Chief Minister’s conduct and mental state, intensifying the controversy surrounding the Bihar CM.
