Health Experts Issue Severe Warning on Cold Drinks Consumption

*Islamabad (Daily Qudrat)* – British health experts have issued a stern warning to consumers of cold drinks and energy beverages, highlighting serious health risks.
A report revealed that a healthy 50-year-old man suffered a stroke after consuming eight energy drinks daily. Doctors warned that excessive intake of such drinks can significantly increase the risk of heart disease and stroke.
The man, who did not smoke or consume alcohol or drugs, suddenly experienced numbness on his left side, difficulty walking, balance issues, trouble swallowing, and speech problems. Medical examinations determined that the stroke affected the part of the brain responsible for movement and sensory perception.
His blood pressure was recorded at a dangerous 254/150 mm Hg. Doctors prescribed medication to lower it, but the pressure spiked again after returning home. Investigations revealed that he was consuming approximately 1,280 mg of caffeine daily—three times the recommended limit of 400 mg.
Doctors Martha Quail and Sunil Munshi emphasized the urgent need to regulate energy drink consumption and raise public awareness, particularly among young people, to reduce the risks of cardiovascular diseases and strokes.
