Naming Those Who Ruined the Country Made Our Leaders Run Off the Stage: Javed Latif

Lahore: Senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Mian Javed Latif has said that justice cannot be served by arresting and punishing only former ISI chief Faiz Hameed, arguing that a larger group was responsible for the destruction of the country.

In a video message shared on social media platform X, Javed Latif said he had long maintained that targeting Faiz Hameed alone would not amount to justice. “There was a whole group involved in ruining Pakistan. I have been naming them for a long time. When Nawaz Sharif named them in Gujranwala, even our own weak-hearted people jumped off the stage and ran away,” he remarked.

He said that those who, along with Faiz Hameed, manipulated state institutions, incited rebellion, influenced judicial decisions, and played a role in toppling an elected government with a two-thirds majority must also be held accountable. He alleged that such actions pushed Pakistan towards devastation.

Javed Latif stated that he was not speaking about personal grievances, adding that he forgave the treatment and alleged torture inflicted on his family during the tenure of former army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Faiz Hameed. However, he stressed that those who undermined the state and betrayed the nation could not be forgiven under any circumstances.

Recalling Nawaz Sharif’s Gujranwala speech, Javed Latif said the former prime minister had named “five individuals” whom he accused of destroying Pakistan, vowing to sacrifice himself but secure freedom for the nation. “Nawaz Sharif did not take up tanks or weapons—he spoke the truth. God heard him, and today those faces are meeting their fate,” he added.
