Minister Atta Tarar Calls Faiz Hameed Verdict ‘Historic,’ Alleges Conspiracies During PTI Tenure

Islamabad: Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar has described the sentencing of former DG ISI General (retd.) Faiz Hameed as a historic verdict and a triumph of truth and justice.
Speaking to Geo News, Tarar said, “Faiz Hameed’s conviction is a landmark decision. The Pakistan Army’s system is strong, and legal mechanisms are robust. Evidence and witness testimonies were presented over a long period. Faiz Hameed, while serving as PTI’s political advisor, conspired against the country. Today’s verdict is historic.”
He added that Hameed crossed the “red line” by engaging in political activities after retirement when he was barred from such involvement, providing full political support to PTI.
Tarar further stated, “It has been proven that he incited unrest during events like May 9, committed acts against the state, misused his position in housing society cases, and exercised unauthorized authority. This landmark ruling strengthens Pakistan’s legal and justice system.”
The minister emphasized that a fair trial was conducted, allowing Hameed to present evidence and witnesses in his defense. “Investigations also covered political matters, all of which were established against him. His political affiliation was significant; as PTI’s political advisor, he actively engaged in conspiracies and spread unrest across the country,” he added.
He concluded by stressing that the May 9 incidents are serious and under further investigation, including the role of political assistants, who allegedly attempted to undermine the writ of the state.
