Karachi: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has directed the immediate commencement of the second phase of distributing EV scooters for women. He issued the instructions while chairing an important meeting attended by Transport Secretary Asad Zamin, MD SMTA Kanwal Nizam Bhutto and other officials. The meeting reviewed ongoing and upcoming transport and mobility projects across the province.

Memon said that under the Pink Scooties Scheme, a large number of women will be provided with modern and eco-friendly transportation, helping improve their mobility and independence.

He confirmed that new electric buses have arrived in Karachi and will soon begin operating on various routes across the city. Surveys for four new routes in Khairpur, Shikarpur and Hyderabad have been completed, and bus services on these routes will be launched shortly. All new routes will be made operational within this month to ensure that citizens in these districts also benefit from modern transport facilities.

The senior minister added that more double-decker buses will be introduced on major city roads to help reduce traffic congestion. He emphasized that the Sindh government is taking serious steps to promote a modern, environmentally friendly and sustainable transport network.

Memon said EV buses, EV scooters, double-decker buses and the upcoming EV taxi service will usher Karachi and other cities into a new era of mobility. He instructed that all projects, directly linked to public convenience, must be completed within their stipulated timelines.
