Lahore High Court Issues Contempt Notice to Narowal DC Over Delay in Afghan Woman’s Citizenship Application

Lahore: The **Lahore High Court** has issued a **contempt of court notice** to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Narowal over inaction on an Afghan woman’s application for Pakistani citizenship.
The matter was heard before **Justice Sultan Tanveer Ahmed**, who took up the petition filed by Zahid Hussain against the DC. The court directed the DC, **Tayyab Khan**, to submit a response.
The petition states that the applicant’s wife, **Mina Ibrahim**, is Afghan and the couple has four children. Mina Ibrahim had applied for Pakistani citizenship, but the **Ministry of Interior requested documents** and subsequently **refused to issue a clearance certificate** citing the absence of a Pakistani domicile.
The petitioner submitted that the court had referred the matter to the DC for remedial action to secure a domicile for his wife. However, the **October 7, 2025 order of the court** has yet to be implemented.
The petitioner requested the court to initiate **contempt proceedings** against the DC of Narowal for failing to comply with the court’s directive.
