No One Will Be Allowed to Create a Rift Between Pakistan Army and the People: DG ISPR

Rawalpindi — Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) has warned that no individual or group will be allowed to create divisions between the Pakistan Army and the nation. Speaking to the media, he said those targeting the military leadership cannot be considered well-wishers of Pakistan.

Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry urged political actors to keep their politics separate from the armed forces. “Our armed forces serve as a shield between the people and extremist Hindutva ideology. Conduct your politics independently, but keep the army out of it,” he said.

He emphasized that while the Constitution guarantees freedom of expression, it does not permit statements against national security or the Pakistan Army. He condemned individuals encouraging actions such as stopping remittances and urging citizens not to pay electricity bills. “We have stood firm against a force eight times larger than ours. No one will prevent the army from acting as the nation’s shield against terrorists and external threats,” he added.

The DG ISPR highlighted that Afghan and Indian social media platforms are amplifying anti-army narratives. “Organized and consistent propaganda against the armed forces is being spread online. Troll accounts in India and Afghanistan make these narratives go viral within minutes,” he said.

He accused Indian media of being the primary facilitator of this propaganda. “Indian media airs interviews, including those of Noreen Niazi, that are against Pakistan’s national interests. Even press conferences of KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi are broadcast on Indian channels. Indian media has effectively become the voice of PTI against Pakistan’s armed forces,” he noted, adding that massive funds are being spent to promote anti-army narratives.

The DG ISPR concluded by reaffirming the army’s role as a protector of the nation and stated that no attempts to weaken the bond between the people and the armed forces will be tolerated.
