Tweet by ‘Mentally Disturbed Individual’ Amplified by Afghan and Indian Media Within Minutes: DG ISPR

Islamabad — Pakistan’s Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) has accused Afghan and Indian media of rapidly amplifying the social media content of what he described as a “mentally disturbed individual,” stating that such propaganda is being used to malign the Pakistan Army and destabilize the country.
Addressing a press briefing, DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry questioned why Indian media eagerly broadcasts statements targeting Pakistan’s Army Chief. “Who provides them with these statements? The same political group and the same individuals who openly speak against Pakistan’s armed forces,” he said, adding that their social media accounts clearly show where the tweets originate and who amplifies them.
He said Afghan media, along with Indian outlets, is consistently involved in anti-Pakistan campaigns. “The Constitution grants freedom of expression, but no one is allowed to use this freedom against national security or to malign the military,” he stressed. According to him, certain elements spread their narrative deliberately, which is then boosted by operators in Afghanistan and India.
Responding to allegations that anyone connected to the military is labeled a traitor by a particular political leader, the DG ISPR questioned, “If I meet students of Allama Iqbal Open University, does that make them traitors?”
He went on to ask, “Who are you, and whose narrative are you speaking? What do you think of yourself?” He referred to earlier instances, including the events of May 9, accusing the same individual of previously inciting attacks on sensitive military installations. “He believes that only he is right and everyone else is wrong. For him, democracy exists only when he is in power; otherwise, it is dictatorship.”
He added that this political figure often invokes comparisons with Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in his tweets, calling it misleading and dangerous.
DG ISPR declared PTI Chairman Imran Khan a “mentally ill individual,” saying, “A single tweet from this mentally disturbed person is made viral within minutes by Afghan and Indian media houses. Indian media has become the loudspeaker of PTI against Pakistan’s military, while Afghan media — acting as facilitators for extremist elements — also amplifies their statements.”
He further stated that, according to the logic of this individual, Pakistan should negotiate even during enemy aggression. “When India attacked, his approach would have been to beg for dialogue. He even suggested opening offices for militants in Peshawar.”
He said this individual has long encouraged protests against security operations, incited people to create unrest, and consistently placed personal politics above national interest. “This is a mental disorder — a terror-crime nexus involving drugs smuggling, non-custom paid vehicles, kidnapping for ransom, and other criminal activities.”
The DG ISPR reaffirmed that the Pakistan Army will not allow any anti-state narrative to harm national security, adding that the armed forces remain committed to protecting the country from internal and external threats.
