PM Approves Appointment of Field Marshal Asim Munir as Chief of Defence Forces

Islamabad – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the summary for the appointment of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as both the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Defence Forces, forwarding it to the Presidency for final approval.
According to the official summary, Field Marshal Asim Munir will serve simultaneously as Chief of Army Staff and the country’s first-ever Chief of Defence Forces. The appointment is for a tenure of five years.
The prime minister has also approved a two-year extension in the service tenure of Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu. The extension will take effect upon the completion of his current five-year term in March 2026.
