Balochistan CM Vows Practical Measures to Address Gwadar’s Public Grievances

GWADAR:Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has said the government will take practical measures to resolve the problems faced by the people of Gwadar and protect the legitimate rights of the local population.
Speaking during a meeting with representatives of the All Parties Gwadar and other political parties, Bugti said he had come to listen to political parties and local stakeholders regarding the issues confronting the city.
He assured that recruitment against district-specific quotas in government jobs would be ensured for local residents and that no one would be allowed to deprive local candidates of their rights.
The chief minister arrived in Gwadar where administrative officials received him, while a smartly turned-out police contingent presented him with a guard of honor.
During the meeting, political representatives briefed Bugti on Gwadar’s overall situation, public grievances, basic civic facilities, employment opportunities and other regional issues. They demanded improved facilities for residents, employment opportunities for local youth and that tests and interviews for Grade-IV vacancies be conducted locally.
Bugti ordered that tests for Grade-IV positions be conducted locally in Gwadar as well as in all districts of Balochistan. He directed officials to strictly implement district quotas so that local youth could receive their legitimate share of government employment.
“We will not allow the rights of any local candidate to be taken away,” Bugti said, stressing that merit, transparency and adherence to district quotas must be ensured throughout the recruitment process.
The chief minister also took notice of complaints regarding the appointment of non-local individuals to Grade-IV positions in the Fisheries and Forest departments in Gwadar. He ordered the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team to conduct a comprehensive investigation.

He directed the team to complete the inquiry transparently and submit a fact-based report. If any violation of rules and regulations is established, those responsible would face legal action, he said.
Bugti said Gwadar is a city of great importance to Balochistan and the benefits of its development should reach the local population first.
He said development could not be defined merely by the construction of major projects, adding that the provision of basic civic facilities, employment, education, healthcare, clean drinking water and other essential services was an integral part of development.
The chief minister said successive governments had made claims about Gwadar’s development and announced that the government would examine the record of the past 20 years to determine how much money had been spent on development and what tangible difference it had made to people’s lives.
He said the government would assess the impact of development projects and the benefits received by residents so that future planning could be based on ground realities and public needs.
Bugti said the government would continue consultations with political parties, elected representatives, district administration and local stakeholders to resolve Gwadar’s problems.

He made it clear that genuine public complaints and legitimate demands would not be ignored and that practical steps would be taken to address them.
The chief minister said sustainable development in Gwadar was possible only when the local population considered itself part of the development process and received its basic rights and opportunities.
He directed the relevant authorities to ensure effective monitoring of development projects, resolution of public grievances and transparent use of government resources.
The meeting was attended by Gwadar’s elected National Assembly member Malik Shah Gorgij, Gwadar MPA Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, provincial ministers Mir Zia Langove and Sardar Faisal Khan Jamali, tribal and political leader Mir Sajid Dashti, Principal Secretary Imran Zarkoon, Gwadar Deputy Commissioner Naqeebullah Kakar and other senior administrative officials.:::
