Notification for Field Marshal’s Appointment as Chief of Defence Forces to Be Issued Upon PM’s Return: Law Minister

**Islamabad:** Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar has said the notification for the appointment of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) will be issued as soon as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif returns to the country.

Speaking to the media, he stated that the matter falls under the Ministry of Defence, adding that the necessary paperwork may already have been completed.

The government recently approved the 27th Constitutional Amendment, introducing the position of Chief of Defence Forces under Article 243. According to the amendment, the CDF will serve a five-year term, and the government has already decided to appoint Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as the first to hold the post.

However, the official notification for his new appointment has not yet been released, sparking speculation.

Meanwhile, Federal Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi said that Field Marshal Asim Munir is already the Chief of Defence Forces, suggesting the notification may have been issued and that the government will announce it at a time of its choosing.

He added that Pakistan has earned unprecedented respect under Field Marshal Asim Munir’s leadership, praising his role and claiming that he shot down Indian aircraft while staying within his professional domain — an achievement acknowledged globally.

Commenting on political matters, Abbasi said the PTI’s current situation resembles “a cat dreaming of cream,” asserting that although government leaders have faced imprisonment, they never conspired against the country.
