CM Maryam Nawaz: ‘Only the Real Owner Will Hold Possession of Land in Punjab’

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister **Maryam Nawaz** has stated that every marla, kanal, and acre of land in the province will remain only in the possession of its **rightful owner**. She urged citizens facing illegal occupation of their land or property to **submit applications at the Deputy Commissioner’s office**, assuring that decisions will be made **within days**.
The chief minister chaired a meeting where she was given a detailed briefing on the effective implementation of the new **Property Ordinance**. Officials informed her that **1,005 families have already regained ownership rights** within 48 hours. It was further noted that land cases involving women will now be treated as a **top priority** across Punjab.

Maryam Nawaz emphasized that a decision is incomplete until the rightful owner is handed **actual possession** of the land. “Decisions will not remain limited to paperwork. Every plot and piece of land in Punjab will be handed over only to its real owner,” she said.
She added that immediate possession will be ensured after court rulings, and **no recommendations or influence** will be entertained in land-related matters.
