Washington:** Following the shooting incident near the White House that left two National Guard members critically injured, U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered the deployment of 500 additional security personnel across Washington, D.C.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth stated that President Trump made the decision immediately after receiving reports of the attack near the White House. He emphasized that “any assault on our personnel will not be tolerated.”
Hegseth added that the deployment aims to strengthen security in the capital and ensure swift response to any potential threats.
The move comes after two National Guard soldiers were shot near the White House, prompting an emergency lockdown of the area and increased police presence. According to police, a suspect has been taken into custody following the incident.
