Those Who Brought Imran Khan Are Bigger Culprits and Must Be Held Accountable: Nawaz Sharif

Lahore (Qudrat Daily) — Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif has said that former Prime Minister Imran Khan was not the only one responsible for the country’s political and economic turmoil; those who brought him to power were “even bigger culprits” and must also be fully held accountable.
Addressing newly elected members of the assembly, Nawaz Sharif said that Imran Khan’s tenure brought nothing but destruction. “A culture of disrespect was promoted, and the country was pushed to the brink of bankruptcy. PTI raised inflation to 39 percent, while during our tenure inflation stood at only three percent,” he stated. He added that had the development agenda continued, Pakistan would have had a strong standing globally and would not be reliant on the IMF.
He said the events from 2018 to 2022 were the responsibility of PTI. “Hate, lies, and chaos were introduced into politics. How can a country progress in such an environment? Merit was completely ignored, and institutions were damaged. Imran Khan was not the only culprit; those who brought him are bigger criminals and they must also be held accountable.”
Commenting on the Punjab by-elections, Nawaz Sharif criticized PTI’s claim of boycotting the polls. “What kind of boycott was it when Omar Ayub’s wife was contesting the election?” He added that the public has rejected the politics of lies and hatred. “I congratulate the elected members for defeating abusive and divisive politics.”
He further said that merit-based initiatives and development projects are now underway, including distribution of laptops, road construction, expansion of the Green Bus service, improvement in law and order, and ration cards being provided without discrimination. More public welfare projects are expected to follow, he added.
