Love Marriage Case: Girl Withdraws Statement in Court; LHC Fines Youth Rs 50,000

Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on a young man after the girl involved in a love marriage case retracted her statement in court.

Justice Raja Ghazanfar Ali Khan heard the petition filed by citizen Shoaib Zafar. The petitioner claimed that he had contracted a love marriage with Fareeda Bibi on June 6, 2025, but alleged that her parents had forcibly taken her away and were keeping her against her will.

During the proceedings, Justice Ghazanfar Ali Khan warned the petitioner that if the girl did not testify in his favor, he would be fined Rs 50,000.

When the hearing resumed, the girl stated that she wished to go with her parents, not with the petitioner. Following her statement, the court imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on Shoaib Zafar.

The court further ordered that the petitioner would remain in police custody until the fine is fully paid.
