Joyful News for Citizens: Lioness Gives Birth to Three Cubs at Karachi Zoo

Karachi (Qudrat Daily) — A heartwarming and significant event has taken place at Karachi Zoo, managed by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), as a lioness gave birth to three healthy cubs on November 16, 2025.
The news has brought excitement not only to the zoo staff but also to wildlife enthusiasts and citizens across the city. Immediately after the birth, the zoo’s in-house veterinary doctors conducted a detailed health check of the cubs. Initial reports confirm that all three cubs are healthy, active, and thriving, while the mother lioness is also in good health and receiving special care.
Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, expressed immense happiness over the development and called it a matter of pride for the city. He instructed the zoo administration to ensure special care, extra monitoring, and dedicated arrangements for the newborn cubs to provide them with the best environment for early growth. He added that this success reflects the effective wildlife management and welfare measures implemented at Karachi Zoo.
According to the KMC administration, the birth of these three lion cubs is not only a major achievement for the zoo but also indicates the positive outcomes of improvements made over the past year. Upgrades to animal enclosures, enhanced veterinary facilities, improved dietary planning, and eco-friendly initiatives have significantly raised the overall standards of the zoo.
The zoo administration confirmed that the lion cubs will not be displayed to the public immediately to avoid any stress or disruption. They will be gradually introduced to visitors once cleared by the veterinary team.
The KMC reaffirmed its commitment to wildlife conservation, zoo modernization, and ensuring the best care for animals, aiming to make Karachi Zoo not only a source of entertainment but also a hub for education and research.
